Why would you want to do this?

Most of us spend more time working than on any other activity in life and so it's very important for us mentally and emotionally to find a career and/or business where we excel.
More and more people are experiencing higher and higher levels of stress these days, which can then turn into mental health problems and also physical illness, this is then a huge cost in so many ways to the individual and also the company.

So what can we do about this?

From my experience what causes people to be unhappy in their work can often be that their role isn’t drawing on their natural strengths and talents. To perform they have to really force themselves which then becomes very tiring OR they feel they are capable of so much more and are under-fulfilled and dissatisfied.
Whilst people go to work to earn a living, what is often even more important is feeling happy, satisfied and fulfilled. If these aspects aren’t met for a person you will often hear them say “You could pay me a million pounds and I will still hate working here.”
If, as you read this, you are relating to what I am sharing then here are some tips to start discovering the right career path for you.

What are you not enjoying about your work?

Is it the job, people, type of work, things going on at home, have you not taken time out for you to refresh and recharge?
If it's your job - what are you not enjoying, what would you like to be doing and who can you speak to in order to make these changes?
If it's the people - what is it about the people that you are not enjoying and can you chat with them to be able to change this?
If it's the type of work - what does your type of work involve that isn’t giving you enjoyment, do you feel you are not drawing on your skills OR do you feel you are being asked to do more than you realistically can?
If it's things going on at home - whats going on for you is it your relationship, family, kids, friends
If it's because you haven't taken time out for you - what can you do to change this, decide what gives you “time out” and make time in your diary for it.

Is it time for a change?

If when you go through these points you ask yourself, well I know I am not happy in my career and I really don't know what I really want to do…then look outside of the context of work, what are your hobbies/interests, what do others around you do that inspires you as some times the answers are in the place we don't expect them
