What is CBT?

CBT looks at how we think about a situation and how this affects the way we act. In turn our actions can affect how we think and feel. The therapist and client work together in changing the client’s behaviours, their thinking patterns, or both of these.

What is EMDR?

EMDR is a therapy which helps you to work through traumatic memories in a safe way, helps your brain’s memory networks to connect, and allows your brain to process traumatic memories. EMDR can also help with other anxiety and mood problems.

What is psychosexual therapy?

Psychosexual therapy is a specialist therapy specifically designed to help people living with difficulties that are of a psychological, sexual nature and that are too difficult or complex to be resolved on their own.

What is relationship therapy?

Relationship therapy is a form of therapy that looks to improve communication and resolve problems and issues within an intimate relationship.

How many sessions will I need?

This can vary and depends on the type of difficulty you are having and its severity. Usually following assessment, I can give you a better indication of how long therapy may take, typically it can be between 5 and 20 sessions, this can be reviewed as therapy progresses. The first appointment would be an initial assessment to discuss your needs and the different options for therapy.

Is what I talk about confidential?

Information you provide during a therapy session is confidential, if however you tell me something that indicates you may be in danger or at risk, or that other people may be at risk of harm, then I would have a professional duty to inform another professional, usually your GP.

How much do sessions cost?

Please contact Emma directly for confirmation of costs and options.
