What is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy?
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a talking therapy based on the theory that thoughts, emotions, behaviour and physical symptoms are all connected. CBT focuses on understanding and making changes to unhelpful patterns of thinking and responding. CBT is an evidence based treatment approach which has a range of strategies to help you in the here and now.
Our wellbeing workshops are suitable for anyone who is interested in developing an understanding of how to improve and maintain emotional wellbeing. Our workshops may be of particular interest to people who recognise that they are struggling with symptoms of mild to moderate mental health problems or for those who are keen to support someone else with these difficulties. The workshops will focus on explaining how to implement evidence based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) strategies for a range of common difficulties such as stress, worry and low mood. All sessions are facilitated by BABCP accredited CBT therapists. Our well-being workshops consist of four sessions which will cover:
- Understanding the basic principles of CBT
- CBT strategies for low mood
- CBT strategies for worry
- CBT strategies for rumination
- The role of compassion
- Relaxation and mindfulness exercises
Participants will not be expected to share their experiences with the rest of the group. Each session will consist of the therapists working through an agenda and explaining how to implement CBT strategies. We welcome interaction from the group but there will be no expectation of this. Groups will be limited to no more than ten. We will provide refreshments and will do our best to ensure that you feel welcomed and comfortable. We hope that all participants will enjoy the experience of attending our workshops!
