Acupuncture is ideally suited to pregnancy and can be used safely to help resolve a range of difficult and depleting conditions without the concern of medicines affecting your baby.
What is it? and what should I expect?
Traditionally, acupuncture was believed to work by re-balancing the energy flow through your body. However, with the progression of science and technology, it is now thought that inserting very fine sterile needles into the skin stimulates nerve endings to transmit signals to the brain.
Hormones and pain relieving chemicals like endorphin, oxytocin and serotonin are then released, blood flow is increased and cell chemistry changes to help restore wellbeing.

Acupuncture in Preparation for Birth
Acupuncture on a weekly basis from 36 weeks can help to prepare your body for birth; supporting the ligaments and sinews as they stretch to widen your pelvis, helping to soften and ripen your cervix, helping your baby to descend into your pelvis in the optimal position, and boosting your energy reserves.
It helps prepare you emotionally, mentally and physically for the birth and stimulates the hormones needed to initiate labour.
