When you Spring Clean or even do your everyday cleaning, you should feel safe with any product you use. The truth is, however, that many of the common products you use daily are likely to be a source of toxins that lead to premature ageing and chronic disease. This is a 2-hour workshop that will teach you about everyday products that you are probably using in your cleaning that could be seriously damaging your health.
If you use any of the products listed below it is likely that your health is already under threat:
- Washing up liquid
- Laundry detergent
- Fabric softener
- Plug in air freshener
- Spray air freshener
- Toilet cleaner
- Multi surface cleaner
- Hand cleaner
- Dishwasher powder/ tablets
- Furniture polish
There are a lot more products than the ones listed here but I wanted to point out the ones that virtually everyone uses.
At the Spring Clean & Be Safe workshop I will be showing you how to replace these toxic chemicals with safe, natural alternatives. You will even get to make some of the products yourself and be able to take home what you make.
What would it be worth to you to find out the possible causes of your current health problems or to avoid health problems later in life? Only you can answer that, but we know that for everyone it will be worth more than the 2 hours of your time and the modest attendance charge of £15 per person. If, at the end of the workshop, there are some products that you don’t want to make for yourself there will be chemical free products available to buy as well as some of the ingredients that you will need to make your own products. Other products will also be available to order.
We are sure that you are now convinced to join us on this fun and interactive workshop. Book now through Eventbrite, at Beehive Healthcare Reception or with Sandra directly. Making your own products will also save you money and we anticipate that making just one product on a regular basis will very quickly allow you to recover the cost of attendance.
What to Wear & Bring
Wear something comfortable. We will be making cleaning products so there is no need to dress up. Don’t wear your new clothes, just in case of spills. Although the products are safe, we will be using essential oils which could leave a mark on clothing if spilt neat.
Bring some containers, ideally a spray bottle and something like a plastic milk container with a screw lid. These containers don’t need to be new and I encourage you to save empties from other cleaning products, just make sure that they have been well cleaned.
I have been making my own cleaning products or buying safe alternatives for years. I didn’t start doing this initially because it was something I was interested in, to help save the planet or even to save money. I started on this journey because I discovered that I am chemically sensitive. At first it was a real inconvenience. There were hardly any safe products available to buy and I had no idea that you could make your own products from simple and safe ingredients.
But I had no choice! Being chemically sensitive means that normal cleaning products have a very instant and dramatic effect on me. Just a slight smell of some products can set me off itching, sneezing, my skin turning red and blotchy and sometimes experiencing intense pain. If the product gets into contact with my skin the symptoms can be accelerated massively.
Whilst these reactions are more than a little inconvenient, I am now glad that they happened. Having intense and immediate reactions means that I know exactly what causes the problem and that I do something about the situation very quickly. Most people think that they are okay with chemicals because they don’t have these immediate or intense reactions to, but the chemicals are still affecting their health. Chemical contact can result in headaches or over many years contribute to much more serious health problems without the cause being evident. Asthma can be made much worse with chemicals and many auto-immune illnesses and cancer can be attributed to a chemical connection.
Finally, after years of being considered weird for not using “normal” cleaners I can now share my solutions with you and it may even be considered as “trendy”! As a result of the experiences I have had in my life I now live in the most toxic free and natural way that I possibly can and am delighted that I now have the opportunity to share that with others.
