Hypnotherapy

What it is and what I can expect?

Hypnosis is actually a natural state that the mind enters into every day! If you have ever driven and then arrived at your destination wondering about part of the journey; that was a trance state of mind. If you’ve ever lost anything only to find it right in front of you..that was a hypnotic state. You’ve been doing it for years without realising!

The difference with Hypnotherapy is that a trained professional will guide you into that trance-like state for a particular purpose and has the tools and techniques to do this consistently and to assist you in achieving your results. You are in control at all times and cannot be made to do something you do not want to do. You enter the trance state yourself by following the instructions the Hypnotherapist gives.

Hypnotherapists believe that your mind is made up of the conscious and unconscious minds. The Conscious mind is the mind of logic and reason, it is the goal setter and captain of the ship. The unconscious mind runs your body for you and is the place where all your habits, emotions and behaviours come from. It is the ‘crew’ of the ship. By using a series of techniques the Hypnotherapist will guide you into a state of mind that assists the conscious mind with taking a momentary step back so that the unconscious mind can take on board positive information that allows you to alter your behaviour and state of mind. If you’ve ever attempted to change a habit using conscious thought alone you will know the challenges! By working with your unsconscious you can maximise the results you get.

Why Choose Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy can assist you in many areas including, addictions, weight loss, confidence, motivation, negative thinking, pain and helping you be the person you truly are.

There are different techniques that can be used in hypnosis so there is always an approach to suit you!

What should I expect?

Don’t expect to feel hypnotised: not everybody feels the same so the state can feel very similar or different to your normal waking state. It can feel just like the moment before you go to sleep or just as you wake up.

Do expect to be aware of what is going on: you will be able to hear everything that is going on, or you would not be able to follow the hypnotherapist’s instructions!

Do expect to be in a heightened state of awareness: this is the optimum state for a hypnotherapist to assist you.

What is it good for?

Hypnotherapy can help with a wide range of issues which you may be thinking you could do with some help to overcome.  Our Hypnotherapists specialise in different areas so for example you could consider consulting a hypnotherapist if:

  • You have a fear or a phobia
  • You have an addiction such as smoking
  • You would like to lose weight or undertake a weight management programme
  • You are interested in past life regression
  • You have confidence, motivation or negative thinking
  • You would like to be helped to be the person you truly are

This list is not exhaustive but included to give you an idea of the types of issues that a hypnotherapist can address.  The first stage if you think that hypnotherapy may be what you are looking for is to have a chat with the therapist.  They will advise you as to whether this is a suitable therapy for you.
