Clinic with Mr Ash Alam

A Caring Professional To Make You Feel Better

Mr Ash Alam is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with a busy NHS practice at Arrowe Park Hospital, Wirral. He consults privately at various places including here at Beehive Healthcare.

At Beehive you can access a Private Consultation with Ash, with any procedures taking place at a different clinic.

Consultations are available for a variety of areas including:

Help with menopausal symptoms

Through my work with the Sexual Wellbeing Clinic (see also their website https://www.sexualwellbeingclinic.com/), and my special interest in this area, I have cared for numerous patients with sexual and menopausal problems. From hot flushes, mood swings and vaginal dryness to lack of sex drive, menopausal and sexual symptoms can be distressing and affect your work-life balance and relationships. I work in conjunction with a psychosexual therapist to find a solution that works for you. Management strategies can include behavioural changes, psychological therapies (eg CBT) to medical therapy such as HRT or testosterone. Your health and wellbeing matters.

Management of vaginal pain/painful sex (dysparunia)

This is a common but distressing condition. As treatment options can include both physical + psychological treatments, I work with a specialist psychosexual therapist and consultant urologist who can offer joint consultations through the Sexual Wellbeing Clinic.

Endometrial ablation (heat treatment for heavy periods)

This is an effective procedure for heavy periods which is usually quick and simple and involves heating away the womb lining so that periods become lighter or can disappear. It may even be possible to perform this under local anaesthetic as an out-patient procedure. Dependent on your specific anatomy, I can use devices such as Novasure, MiniTouch or Lina Librata.

Management of fibroids

Fibroids are growths of the muscle of the womb and are very common. They can range from small (pea-sized) to large (tennis ball size) or larger. Don't worry, they are not usually cancerous but can cause heavy or irregular periods or pelvic pressure/swelling. Treatment options range from simple medication to surgery and depend on their size and location and the problem they are causing you. I can talk you through the full range of options after an initial ultrasound scan. Please contact me today to schedule an appointment.

Management of endometriosis

For years, patients have depended on me to provide treatment for this often difficult to manage condition. Endometriosis can cause painful periods and pelvic pain and pain during sex. Ultrasound scan and laparoscopy can help make the diagnosis and treatment can include medical or surgical therapy. Occasionally patients may need repeat laparoscopies as the endometriosis can recur but I aim to take you through all your treatment options so that together we can find an approach that suits you.
