What is “Personal Development and Spirituality”
The words Personal Development and Spirituality, will mean different things to different people, so let me share with you my interpretation and meaning - which of course, may be different to yours.
Over the years (nearly 20 years now) of working 1-1 and 1-many with a wide range of people, personalities and cultures….I find the one big overriding similarity is people striving for something “better” what ever that “better” may be.
People are wanting to be free of problems, to find their way, excel in their career, be the best Mum, Dad, Husband, Wife, discover their real passion in life, be their own boss, travel the world, learn a new language, the list goes on. These are all very important “wants” and I also find that so many also have no idea how to make this happen!
So many clients and students come to me saying “I am lost” I don't know where to turn or even who I am or meant to be any more! Notice my choice of language here “meant to be”….so many of us, myself included before I came into this field, think that we “have” to be a certain way, we have to look a certain way, do a certain job, be a certain person AND if this all aligns with you true self then great ALTHOUGH for most, they are attempting to fit into someone elses “mould” and this is what makes people unhappy, stressed, depressed and feel lost in life.
So, for me, personal development, is a way to bring out the real you, the you hiding underneath the stresses, the you hiding beneath the lack of confidence, the you who you know is there deep down in your heart and the you, that you may not have connected with since you were a child.
When a person learns how to bring out their true selves, they can then develop and future their true personality and persona rather than almost fighting to be someone they are not.
Spirituality, again means so many different things to different people. It can be practicing a religion such as Christianity, Hinduism, Muslim, Sikhism. Maybe you connect more with Yogic Teachings, Taoism, Huna and various Shamanic Teachings….whichever of these practices or combined practices work for you, BRILLIANT we are all different and as long as your Spiritual approach works for you, that's what matters.
Maybe you are not sure about particular teachings and being Spiritual to you, means a walk in the forest, time in nature, meditating! What ever gives you time for you, time in your inner world and supports your inner peace and balance, then follow that path
